Terms

Last updated 15 October 2026

These are the terms for using Lamina. They are meant to be read, so they are in ordinary sentences. Using Lamina means you accept them.

Who runs Lamina

Lamina is run by one person rather than a company. support@heylamina.com reaches them.

Who can use it

You need to be 18 or over, and enrolled at an institution whose systems you are entitled to access. You may only connect accounts that are yours.

What Lamina does

Lamina is an AI assistant. It reads academic systems you connect (a course system, a university portal, a shared course drive, your mailbox or calendar) and messages you on WhatsApp, or by email at an address you confirmed, when it finds something worth telling you. Often it finds nothing and says nothing. That is it working, not failing.

Mostly it reads. It changes something on your systems, like adding an event to your calendar or submitting a form, only while answering a message you sent, and only on systems you connected. Some changes, like a submission or a sent email, can't be undone.

Price

Lamina is free to try. After that it costs $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year (₪24.90 or ₪189 in Israel), VAT included, and until you subscribe Lamina can only chat with you. Nothing is charged unless you subscribe yourself through the link Lamina sends you. Our order process is run by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for all our orders. You can cancel any time, and your subscription ends at the end of the period you paid for. Deleting your Lamina account cancels it too. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

WhatsApp

Lamina talks to you on WhatsApp, so WhatsApp’s own terms apply to that conversation too.

Your university's rules are still your rules

Connecting a system to Lamina is something you are doing with your own account. Your institution's IT and acceptable-use policies still apply to it, and some institutions restrict third-party clients or require administrator approval. Checking that is yours, not ours, and we cannot grant you access your institution has not.

If your university blocks it, Lamina will say so plainly rather than find another way in.

What you should check

Lamina reads pages, mail and documents written by other people and draws conclusions from them. It can misread. A date can move after it looked. A notice can be ambiguous.

Before you act on a deadline, a grade or a submission, check the source. Lamina tells you where something came from so you can. It is an assistant for your studies, not the authority on them, and it is not legal, medical, financial or academic-advisory advice.

Things not to do

  • Connect an account that is not yours, or that you are not allowed to use this way.
  • Use Lamina to submit work, sit an assessment, or do anything that is meant to be your own work.
  • Use it to reach systems you have no right to reach, or to get around an institution's controls.
  • Try to make it act outside what it is for, or to extract another person's data.
  • Scrape it, take it apart, or use it to build a competing service.
  • Use it to break the law, or your institution's rules.

Academic misconduct is the one worth saying twice. Lamina is built to tell you what is happening in your courses. It is not built to do your coursework, and using it to pass off work that is not yours is on you.

Your things and ours

Your coursework, your messages and everything Lamina reads for you stay yours. We claim no ownership of them, and we do not use them to train AI models. We hold them only to run the service for you, as the privacy page describes.

Lamina itself (the software, the name, the design) stays ours.

It will not always be up

Lamina is early. It will have outages, it will change, and features may appear or disappear while we work out what actually helps. We do not promise uninterrupted service, and we do not promise it will notice everything. If it is down, it is down: check your systems yourself.

Stopping

You can stop whenever you like: tell Lamina to stop, disconnect a system, or ask for everything to be deleted. We can suspend or end an account that is being used against these terms, or where we have to for security or legal reasons.

Liability

Lamina is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (a missed deadline, a grade, work lost) arising from using it or from something it got wrong or did not notice.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Israel, and the courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo hear disputes about them. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of its law, and you can also bring a claim in its courts.

If these terms change

We will change the date at the top. If a change affects what Lamina may do with your accounts or your data, we will tell you before it takes effect rather than quietly republish.
